I need to shave some pixels off a 3008x2000 picture (from D40) to get a 4:3 ratio for the print.

I cant afford to stretch any image, or for them to automatically snip out the wrong sides so I have to do it manually.

Math isn't exactly my forte and I really need help right now. I'd appreciate quick replies.

You're 125 short top and bottom (250 total)
Shave off 166,5 on each side (333 total) and you'll be 4:3

(I did the math with 3000x2000 for simplicity)

Correct me if I'm wrong here anyone...
If you have Adobe Photoshop, probably from at least Version 6.0 on, just choose the Crop tool and in the options bar at the top, enter 4 for the width and 3 for the height and then draw it out over your photo. You can then drag it out to whatever size you want and the ratio will always be 4:3. In addition, you can use the arrow keys to move the dotted lines that outline the cropped version to anyplace over the original photo, and thus you can see just what is being shaved off because the area to be shaved off is shown in a much darker tone than the part that will remain.
