The Photography Network - PictureSocial

Hi All,

I'm new here, and very new to photography, I've searched this site to no avail.

I've recently aqquired a Lumix fz-18, I want to go for a wander this afternoon but the weather is not too good, showers etc. Is my camera going to tolerate a light sprinkling of water? Obviousy I'm not going to stand out whilst it hoofs it down, but there is rain in the wind.

Regards

Rich

Cameras that aren't designed for water tend to be unpredictable with sustainability. My camera has gotten sprinkled on before and it was fine, but I have known other people's cameras to start working differently. One of my friends somehow got water inside the lens and so all her photos from then on were kind of hazy. So I would be careful around water.

There is one pocket camera that I know that's waterproof and shockproof, it's from Olympus. For your camera, I wouldn't know for sure but like others said, I'll play it safe if I were you especially Panasonic Lumix is a fine camera since it has Leica's lenses. So I'd be really careful with it =).
