Recently a local coffee shop that displays art and photography has agreed to put some of my photos on display for sale. This is my first time putting my photos on display and I'm not really sure how to go about printing really good quality photos. I wanted to have them all printed 11x17. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hey Nathaniel,

My advice would be to print to your frame size. Unless you want to spend a fortune on framing your photos (it's ridiculously expensive for custom frames) I suggest you purchase some simple frames from your local retailed (Michael's, Walmart, or even Target, even though Target is a little more expensive). Check out the sizes they offer. You'll find that two of the most common sizes for pre-made frames are 8x10 and 11x14. I know your original question was about getting good quality prints, not about size, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

In regards to getting good prints, I would recommend printing from a lab and NOT buying yourself a wide-format printer (not at first, at least). Check out MPIX.com (http://www.mpix.com/productsinfo.aspx). You can get prints on either standard photo paper, metallic paper (which I highly recommend), or B&W paper. I order all of my prints from MPIX and highly recommend them.

I hope that answers your question.

I agree with buzznfrog, but suggest going a step further and get them matted in a color that compliments your photo or even double matting if you want to go first class. IMHO "pictureframes.com" is a much better value and has a far greater selection than the discount stores. Also printing them 13x19 is a standard size that fits well in Either a 12x18 matt or frame. hope this helps.
