I need a new computer monitor...what size and brand do you like?

I'm ready to buy a new monitor for my PC. I just visit my website on a friend's monitor and what a difference it was to see the pictures on a 22" screen compared to a 17". I was just wondering what brand and size monitor other photographers are using to view and edit their pictures.

My son has just purchased a 22" Samsung monitor. He says that for quality, features and price you can't beat it. I have looked at it quite a bit with my photos on, and I'd agree. Good value and quality.
Thanks! I AM trying to look out for costs. I'm a stay-at-home mom trying to start a photography business along with a whole bunch of people in our area. I was a teacher for 15 years and, after having my own daughter, decided to stay home. I will look up that Samsung.
Aimee,

Here is a link that may help also.

Monitor Reviews
I have a Viewsonic 22 inch. I love the size and the extas. It has an IPOD charger/hook up w/ mini speakers to listion to the IPOD. It also has headphone plugins and two USB plugs. I cost me bout $350 bout a year ago :)
Thank you so much for the info! :) It's great that people will take the time and respond. I just love this site!
Hi Aimee. This is a pricey beast, but they do have them on sale from time to time....all I can say about it is YES! Its a wonderful monitor. Again keep an eye out for sale prices. Great colour, great clarity, amazing to work with. I did a good deal of research before I bought one, and lucked out on a massive one day only sale price. Its not an Eizo or anything like that, but for the price, its perfect. Dell Computer's model 2408 monitor... 24 inch screen. Heres a link...

I wouldn't part with mine. Well until the next best thing comes along..... once I win the millions in the lottery. ;-)
I just bought a ViewSonic 19" one which cost me 130USD...
It was good enough for me~
My small advise : try to get LG 20+ those Monitors are really good!! Digital Fine Contrast 5000:1 great, and widescreen will help you work on Photo software!!

Many thanks

You all have given me a lot to look at. I do need it for editing photos. Thanks for all the input. Now I just need to decide if I'm willing to use my credit card just one more time! Ha ha! I read somewhere that when you start a photography business you should never go into debt. Oops! should've read that earlier. I also read that you have to spend money to make money. Didn't these people know eachother?

Thanks, again. I'm always so impresed with the people on this site!

Aimee
I am using an Eizo 24" monitor calibrated with an i1 Display 2
