Facebook Anyone?

I have an idea that may be of some use to our community here. Let me preface this by saying that, being of an older generation, I resisted the world of Web 2.0 for quite some time. But and old friend from high school contacted me about staying in touch through Facebook, so I gave it a try. To my surprise, I found I liked it.

And guess what?... They even have photography groups on Facebook. For instance, I live in Canberra - in Australia - so I've joined the Canberra group and the Australian group.

I've always thought it would be nice to get to know more about some of the folks here at PictureSocial, and for a while, I thought the chat room would be a good idea... but there's never anyone in it. Now maybe we can get better acquainted and exchange ideas through Facebook... or not... your choice.

Anyway, if you've got a Facebook profile, add me as a friend and send a message along with your request saying that you are from PictureSocial, because I don't add just anyone.

Hi David,

I agree with you. When Facebook first came out, I was really against joining it as I was into Friendster and thought that Facebook was to difficult to use. But as time went on and I kept on getting more and more requests to join by my friends, I thought why not. I'm quite pleased with it as I have been able to expand my network as well as promote my work, which has resulted in some jobs along the way.

Recently joined Facebook for the same reason as you David. My friend asked me to sign up and eventually I gave in and yeah its alright.

Tried searching for you but got no responses with your name.

Brian... Facebook has a strange way of searching for people. If you use the obvious method - typing someone's name into the SEARCH box at the top right of the HOME page - chances are, you won't get a hit.

Try this:

Click on FRIENDS - on the top right of the FRIENDS page is a LINK that reads "Find people you know on Facebook" Clicking that link takes you to a new page. On that new page, go to the bottom left. Type the name you want into the SEARCH box there. As of today, I'm the only David Wollum on Facebook. I did a search for you, and I'm sure I found you, but I didn't send a friend request because there are several Brian Yeo's... and of course, I didn't know which one was you.

would it be easier for y'all to find me? Susan M Khan on facebook, using the same photo. there are 3 pages of Susan Khan's on facebook, good Lord, who knew??? lol
