Posting other people's images

Its hard to say... My initial understanding of this site was exactly as you say... photographers posting their own pics. I know there is some less-than-original material on these pages and I guess about all you can do is ignore it. I'm often tempted to comment on it... or just ask them why someone felt it was appropriate to post whatever it is here. But then, folks get all defensive and their feathers get ruffled... which doesn't really bother me, since I'm on the other side of the planet from almost everyone and will probably never meet anyone here, with the possible exception of Mulgabill, who lives two suburbs down the road... but then he posts his own stuff, so I have no issues with him anyway.

Now there is an exception to this train of thought... video tutorials found on different sites. Even if these tutorials are not the original work of the the person who posted it, I believe learning and sharing photography/post-processing skills with the members of this site is within the normal expectations of most members and should be not only allowed, but encouraged.

Have seen two discusion on this network regarding picture being used by another person without permissions.Can we suggest to the moderator to try using the Creative Commons (CC) as a tool for this network? I have not gone through all the info on Creative Common but is being used on one of my Ning Address (Land8Lounge).

Hi David,

Chief has a good solution for this dilema of people using another person's photo.But again we cannot expect all people to be as discreet or disciplined as we want to, either they don't know about it or just don't want to do it.

So, on this Creative Commons we are licensing our important photo's and uploading it knowing people once clicking on it would understand how we want our pictures used or not used.To explain better here is a link showing how it work: http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Howitworks_Comic1

This only works before you upload your photo.Hope it works for all of us.

I agree with Chief. I dont think I would like my pics being posted where I didn't post them or places I may not approve of.
