I was thinking of starting to use live women (NOT that I ever used dead) to pose for me,after searching amateur model data bases, I found that the average pay is $400.00 and hour, with a 4 hour min.,now for a beginner (me) that seems like a high fee, what do you think.

Hi, not sure if you're aware of the site modelmeyham or something like that. I'll try to get the correct name for you. In any event, quite a few models will work for pictures to build their portfolio. Now they have a term for that, can't remember right now lol, story of my life.

Ironically I had gone to the site last week to look around, found someone to contact and chickened out??? not a clue why. My friend called me, and I mentioned to her that I was looking for a model. She said one of the girls at my church models, turns out to be the same one I was going to contact, talk about fate. Anyhoo we met and did a quick shoot.

My mini novel, lol, try that site or put an ad in a local free paper. Be up front with what you are willing to pay, and also have them sign a release.

Good luck
Hi,
The name of the site is Modelmayhem.com. So you are correct. Also, the term you are at a loss for is "TFCD", "Trade for CD", or "TFP", "Trade for Print".
I haven't used the site myself, but knowing it is there when I need it helps. I usually wait until someone mentions that they want to get into modeling and would like to build a portfolio. Sort of a "one hand washes the other". The model prospect gets seen and the photographer gets known. It works. Plus we all get to have a good day and some fun with our creativity.
ModelMayhem is a good site.

Have you tried advertising on Craig's List (craigslist.com)? I placed an ad there for a release required gig offering $20/hour for two hours (non nude) and had about a dozen responses from legitimate entry level (and a couple of experienced) folks. There are also ads up here for TFCD/TFP offers from new models trying to build their portfolios.
No ,I havnt considered Craigs list, but I wil check it out,Thnaks for the help.
Thanks for all the help, I went to ModelMayhem, and as of yet there are NO models listed for my area.........oh well.........
Don't give up your search Joe. You just have to play it by ear. Literally. There are men/women who have excellent jobs or good jobs but wouldn't mind helping out a photographer while he is being creative. The woman on my page here is a nurse, but is open to creativity. My daughter, also on my page, is a fitness trainer, and I have another model who works in a Recording Studio as a receptionist. I also offer to shoot when I feel that financial problems stand in the way of someone getting ahead. These Economic times! But as I said earlier, it is a "one hand washes the other" situation. So don't give up. It'll happen.

Have a Good Day and Happy Shooting!
Antoine
One of the recent photo magazines had a piece about a guy who wanted some models and did the TFCD thing through Facebook. Worked for him, could work for you, too.
THIS (if it happens) will be the FIRST time using a real person, what I was trying to get a handle on is what would be fair pay for a female to pose semi-nude and nude.I hav some great ideas for some semi-nude shots at a local beach........Im not sure but Im thinking maybe somewhere along the lines of $35.00 and hour cash, but I hav never done this,so I have no clue as to what is fair.............................
LOL, I was using the search wrong, there are lotsa women in my area......................
