Hi,
I am thinking of purchasing a Wacom Intuos III size 6x8 any of you that have experience using this tablet that has any thoughts on good and bad about it? I want it to edit pictures with rather than using my mouse I am hoping it will be easier to make small and more accurate adjustments with a pen than it is with a mouse.
H
I have one. I use it sometimes but I find it more cumbersome than a mouse or trackball and it takes up desk space. It came with a pen and a felt bottomed mouse. I have the same problem with it that I have with the touch pads on notebooks, I touch it and it registers my touch instead of the pen's touch.
Probably if I worked with it more, I would appreciate it more. At my skill level with it, when I want to do fine work, I push the tablet out of the way, zoom in and make the changes I want with a trackball.
Hi,
Thanks for your thoughts. I was talking to a photographer that uses hers on a daily basis she can not do her work without it she paints most of her pictures on the computer so for her its essential so she is the one that got me hocked on the idea. What she does she puts the tablet in her lap and work on it from there, that gives her the best sitting position to work with it she says. Maybe something you can try? I can see what you mean otherwise that it does take up to much space on your work space area. I have the same problem now! without it. My keyboard takes to much space and its only a normal iMac keyboard thinking of maybe buying one without the numbers at the end of it that would make it smaller and i can have the mouse fitted easier next to it, now I move the keyboard around since i use the mouse most of the time...
I have two of them. The small one I use with my little Asus EEE 1000ha. It's okay for travel but really too small. The larger (12" I think is much more accurate especially when using quick selection tool in CS3 or 4. I really can't live without it.
Any questions about where the deals are, contact me.
Hi,
Thank you all for your input, I appreciate you taking your time to let me know. I am traveling to New York in August so will pick one up when I am there. If any of you are New Yorkers is the best place for camera gear the BH Video store (same as the website www.bhvideo.com) ?
I had a Wacom Tablet (small inexpensive model) many years ago with my Gateway PC... I tried to get used to the pen - with NO success! It had three buttons and you varied the pressure to cause it to produce the various effects - and I just could NOT get it... Maybe because I am left handed?! I found the mouse to be much easier. Perhaps, though, with improved technology and higher costing better models the experience may be better!
wow.. I'm glad to read I'm not the only one who has trouble adjusting to the pen pressure etc of the Wacom tablet. I have the 6x8 and just can't get use to it.. I find it taking up all my desk space and covering it up with paper work. I will try the 'lap' idea and see if that helps. But I can't figure out the pen pressure.... I keep going back to my mouse. Those that have learned to use it seem to LOVE it.. I guess my learning curve is steeper than I want. good luck with yours.
Thanks for all the feedback. I had no idea how many users that didn't like it, i can understand though that is might have a high learning curve. Thanks for the positive feed back though it wasn't many ;-) I was almost talked or should I say Read out of buying one since no one seamed to like it. But I have made up my mind I really think it will help me painting on pictures and hopefully keep my "mouse shoulder" at bay. So lets hope it will work I would hate spending all that money and then find out it is not what I expected but i cant say you guys didn't try to warn me.
I have an 11 x 8 Wacom Graphire and while it took a while to get confortable with, I know use it alot in wditing with photoshop. Looking at the screen while you moce the stylus on the tablet is kinda tricky, but once you get the hang of it you'll love it.
