Hi,

I am looking for good rated filter holder and filters (ND, grad, color, cool, warm filters) to enhance my photography skill. Can anybody suggest me which one is better. i am trying to look into some thing like cokin filter holder and filters. I got to know HOYA, B+W etc are also good. But I am not able to find the best myself. Your valuable inputs are appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Dileep,

Cokin filter holders and filters are good but I have heard reports of colour cast problems. Lee filters are probably the best and are used by most pro's. They are expensive but what you can do is use the Cokin Z Pro holder with the Lee glass filters.

Cheers
I have also heard the Lee Filters are the better filters.
Thanks for the suggestions Brian & Marcia.
I had cokin filters added as ready to buy list in Amazon. I will add Cokin filter P holder and Lee filters too. I am collecting money to buy everything together. Mean while I will go through available Lee filters.

Is it better to buy from Amazon or Official sites of Cokin and Lee filters? Or do you suggest any better and safe place to buy these items.

I appreciate your suggestions. Thanks again.
Hi Dileep,

Amazon is as good a place as any although you could try the Lee website 'http://www.leefilters.com/camera/' as they sometimes do special offers on various kits.

Cheers
I use sites like B&H, Adorama etc. Reputable online photography stores. I have not had a problem with either of the two. There are a few others I have dealt with also

Just make sure you check out the reputation of whoever you choose

This is a site I use to check whether that is the best price and also check out the seller as to whether they can be trusted or not. Their history and reviews

I hope it helps
Thank you to both of you again. It really helps
Some body says singh-ray ND filters are good. according to some blogs the cokin filters doesnot give "Neutral" density. All I want is quality. I can go for that even if the price is a bit high.
Basically I am looking for ND filters, warm filters and some color filters.
I have used a variety of filters over the years. Cokin and Lee have a system of sqaure cut filters and a holding system for a number of applications for both large, medium, and slr formats. I find them to be quite useful and several can be placed into your bag in a box that holds up to 10 different filters.

The overall price is comfortable, and I don't have to worry about filter sizes. Most of my lenses have the same filter size so my glass filters are either interchangeable or fixed to one lens. This also helps towards lowering the cost of filters. Look for bargains.

Although I shoot as a pro I use the cokin system in combination w/ B/W ect. and if the color temperature is not critical there are usually no problems so, know what your intent is before making an informed decision.

See some of my work shot through this system at www.redbubble.com/people/matsumoto

Cokin is made in France I believe, so look them up and have a wonderful time shooting!
Thank you all for the guidance. Now I got some direction to look into.
Greetings: Have a look at Singh Ray filters. Stay away from Cokin neutral density filters. They definitely add colour casts. I use Lee GND's with great results.
Bob.
