Hi Fellow Photographers, I attend and shoot many equine shows for myself and have some pleasing results but i have been asked to shoot for a friend at an event he is hosting,can any of you give me some tips on creating the perfect shots such as lens choice and such.

Okay, NOT being a pro photographer myself, I have found the best results on equine photography come from full size headshots, or full size shots of the animal. Make the best use of available space within your FOV, and make sure you take multiple photos of each shot... each one will be slightly different, giving you a choice on the best photo to present.

I've attached a couple of photos I've taken to give you some sort of idea what I'm talking about, but remember, they are NOT professional. You don't say what sort of camera you are using, but these have come from my Canon EOS 400D with an EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II lens.
