I am thinking of printing this on canvass for myself and possibly trying to sell a few copies at my local camera shop. This photo has only been cropped, sharpened, and de-noised using PSE. Any other advice, critiques, ect would be greatly appreciated. Also, since this is the first picture I will ever have printed, I would appreciate any advice on how to make sure the image is transferred accurately. I have heard horror stories of photographers getting crappy prints of an otherwise awesome picture.

It was just a case of being in the right place at the right time. I was at Table Rock shooting a sunset when the thunderhead literally brewed up right in front of us. Most of the people there took off owing to the fact that Table Rock has an array of communications towers and a 30 foot tall glowing cross sitting on it. Perfect targets for lightning to strike. I went further down and found a trail to set up on and just set my camera to 30 second exposures and shot for over an hour. I probably took over 100 photos that night of which only a dozen or so yielded acceptable results.
Huh, I didn't realize long exposure would work that well for lightning, but now I might have to give it a serious try... Too bad its winter! Thanks for sharing these shots with us though :)

One pic very well might have recorded the bolt that struck a man walking along a road in the hills above Boise. I did not know this until I got home and watched the local news.
Permalink Reply by Jared Weaver on December 3, 2011 at 6:21am I went ahead and made a small print to test the color accuracy of my monitor. Everything is right on and the photo shop wants to sell my work!

Permalink Reply by Jared Weaver on December 3, 2011 at 2:15pm Thanks! I'm not looking to make a ton of money, but if I can use the money earned to buy a new camera body or a lens, I would be very happy.
Permalink Reply by Robyn Shafer on December 9, 2011 at 1:17pm I really like the idea that you have done very little to the pic!
I like the shot alot and I think you should print and try to sell it!
