I have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi. It's dirty inside and needs a cleaning. I wonder is it a good idea to try doing it myself. I feel I'm somewhat skillful with tools and machine work. But with no instructional materails I'm not sure if I want to try it. Let me hear from you if you clean your own opticals.

I had too much dust on my sensor, mirror, and focus screen. The rocket blaster worked great on my focus screen and mirror but my sensor still needed a more thorough cleaning. I cleaned my XTi's sensor this past weekend using the copperhill method and this kit:

Swab cleaning your sensor is very risky and should be performed as a last resort to bust the dust off your photos; but many photogs do it. My sensor is super clean now.
I learned something new about dust and dirt. If you can see it in your viewfinder even after changing lenses, then its probably dust/dirt on your focus screen or mirror. If you can't get it off with the rocket blaster, then you should just leave it because it won't affect your photos anyways.
