I don't know.  I love them both.

Top picture, Does nothing for me, maybe alter the colours?

The mallard duck, well I go back millions of years when I was being taught photography, if you are taking pictures of wildlife the lens needs to be level with their eyes or below the level. No person wants to look at an animal or humans head.

Top one is boring.  I disagree about always having the camera eye level with either people or animals.  The best point of view is the one that communicates your message most effectively.  I like the colors in the duck.  Background needs to be diminished and duck brought up in value.  It feels out of balance to me also.
