Permalink Reply by Jim Hunter on May 16, 2011 at 9:23am Hi Victoria - I do weddings and some clients seem to take forever to select the images for their album. However give the factthey are looking to choose between 60 and 80 from around 500 it's probably understandable.
We do tell them that we have to get their chosen list within 6 months after the wedding as album suppliers can change designs and prices can also increase. Beyond that time we reserve the right to apply a surcharge. That seems to help them get a move on but I've heard of some only getting round to it after two years, and in one situation the photographer was finally asked to produce the album four years after the wedding (and the had paid for it up front)!
Hi Victoria,
Having a contract is one of the first steps to doing professional photography. In the contract it should state how long they have until they loose their options to use their dollars (those dollars becomes yours) for their final product. This is a very important point as it forces the client to step it up and order. It all boils down to doing business. How long do you want to drag out their laziness? You don't want to drag it out, so make a contract, have them sign it, and hold on to it to the end. It's called business, not best friends.
