Hi everyone,
Can anyone describe how I can print onto canvas ??.do I need a special printer, is it worth doing it yourself, there are some good sized prints around and I have some photos that would look stunning,
Yes you can print on canvas. HP pigment ink printers Z series. printed a few of my shots on HP 2100 Z printer. The output is amazing! The printer is a highend printer. the cost factor is quite high. check the HP website and decide for yourself.

All the pigment base ink can print on canvas, the only difference is not all the printer all the varies thickness of canvas, I did some oil painting reproduction on metal free canvas (from Epson) and the result is quite good. You can obviously run as big as your printer and ink catridge can allow, I did some print that is very large, 30" wide and almost 6ft long.
I've had some excellent results using The Giclee Factory.... http://www.giclee-factory.com/ They'll really work with you to get the highest quality image and will ship direct to your client if that's what you need. Might be a quicker solution and better from an overall cost perspective.
Thanks Bill, I will give them a try but I am in New Zealand and its suprising how many companies dont want to ship down here, they only go as far as Australia but no further.........
Hello Everyone,
I find this quite an interesting subject,as I print on canvas quite a lot,but find the cost is so high.I am around £170 for my ink for my HP Photosmart Pro B9180 printer, and another £80 for 25 sheets of canvas.I think you will agree that this is rather expensive.Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK where the ink and paper might be cheaper.
Regards,
Gary.
I do quite a bit of printing on both paper and canvas and depending on the job I may out source it. My printer ink is approx. $13.00 per cartridge and the rolls of canvas vary. So have an outside lab do it brings down the cost. As they are on a per need basis it works out to be cost effective in the end.

This is one area that I recommend you outsource. Even if you get a nice print, the stretching over a frame is tough stuff. If even tension is not applied, the frame will warp over time.
I spent a day last week with Mike Colon and he introduced me to Pixel2canvas.com. They were there and did really nice work. I also like simplycanvas.com.
