A few friends, family members, and admirers of my work have asked me about possibly buying prints of my shots. As of now I have never sold or printed any of my work. I was wondering if there was anyone out there with knowledge in this field that would like to give me some tips on how/where to print and what would be affordable for my customers. If you have any advice or suggestions I'd be glad to hear it. Thanks in advance.

For prints check out millers lab, mpix, bayphoto.. labs i've used and still use.. great quality. I use millers now.. just because they have all products i need.

As far as selling.. it's your work, your time when into it.. how much do you value your work? what price tag do YOU think looks good on the work? That's how i think of it when i sell my work.. usually for a wedding or event..

I always see photographers giving away there work for near nothing. I only do that when it's family.

Just a thought! :) Good luck!
Thanks. I'll have a look into those. :)
James, actually go to MPix pro, big difference, you will have to go through an approval process but I am sure you can get in no problem. They will send you a kit to calibrate your monitor to their process. They will need you to send 5 images into them and they will send you 5 test prints just to make sure your monitor is calibrated to match their prints. Once you are done with the process you are ready to go. They will do no processing at all so what you send them is what you get.
Thanks Sean. I was actually just looking a Mpix. I'm glad I saw your post. I'll check out Mpix Pro now.
Before you make your mind for selling your photographs slightly have a look at this offer, which I just found in a newsletter. You can get 20 free Photo cards & 20 free photo prints via visit this link www.zerotofive.com.au/photocards.htm the offer ends soon but my friend registered and if you order prints before the end of the month you keep the credits for the cards. Get them for when you need them.
Do you want thyme to buy the picture from your site? Or you just to buy cheap good quality prints?
Does anyone have an opinion on Smug Mug? Lately I've been busy selling prints off of my face book fan page and printing locally and mailing myself... I'm starting to be over busy and have heard Smug Mug is good and they use Bayphoto lab???? Any info?
Thanks!
I've used Mpix and SmugMug quite a bit. Both do a great job. I was filling print orders myself, but recently I've decided that I have to take advantage of impulse purchases. So I compared Zenfolio (uses Mpix) to SmugMug, and it seems to me that Zenfolio is a bit cheaper for the same services. Also I'm a big fan of Mpix, although I never had any problems with Bay Photo through SmugMug. Either offer packages that allow the photographer to set their own prices, and then the lab takes, fills, and ships the orders.
For printing, I just use www.aiprolab.com They are a great lab for their prices. Plus, they'll do retouching for you if you want, I've never used this feature, but it's available (swapping heads, opening eyes, whitening teeth, color correction, etc.) I've never had an issue with them before.

"Thanks John !..the crispness surprised me somewhat as i had used a 13mm close-up/macro extension tube attached to a 50mm Prime, the shot didn't need any sharpening in PS either. Oh, and no not yet, though i keep trying.. lol !!.."
