Lens choice
Hello,
I am purchasing a Canon EOS 50D (body only). I am considering either the C EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM or the EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS UMS. I will be using this for sports photography as well as portraits. Any thoughts?? I have read the reviews and am still confused!

I personally would go with the 17 - 85 because I really enjoy the wide-angle. But if I had to choose between the lenses you mention, go with the 24- 70. This might be against conventional wisdom for sports but you can always crop in on pictures if necessary and many shot you take will require a wide angle lens. Of course, it kind of depends on what sport you are photographing ... hopefully, you can get fairly close ...
