My CF card isn't being read properly in a D60 Canon. Why is this?

I normally shoot with a Canon EOS 50D, and I have a Transcend 4GB CF card (133x).  A friend lent me a Canon EOS D60 that had been converted to infrared, body only.  So I go to try it out. Put my battery in, it turns on fine. Lens on, fits fine. CF card in... Fits fine, no need to force, but it won't read it. Just says "CF Err" on the display, and won't even let the camera auto focus. I cannot do ANYTHING because of this. Can't change settings, nothing. Why is this? Are there older versions of CF cards? None of the prongs were bent in the card reader... I don't know why it won't read my card, and why the camera isn't able to do anything at all because of it.
