How serious do you want to get? Do you want new or 'previously enjoyed'? Right off the bat, especially with your level of photos and your love for photography... if you're going used...for around 350-500$ you could pick up a nice D200 semi-pro model. It'd benefit you in so many ways when it comes to shutter speed, focus, bracketing and image quality.
I'm very familiar with the D60, and while it is a great camera, and takes great shots, with your level of shooting, I'd personally step up a bit.
So many other options though....
I've used everything from a D50 to a D700, and have researched quite a few, so let me know your budget, and what you want to do, and I'll do my best to give you some advice!
Cheers,
Dan
Let me know if you're heading to Ottawa anytime soon, you can take a couple of mine out for a spin.

Permalink Reply by Daniel Leis on October 19, 2011 at 6:10pm You're welcome Crystal, you do have some lovely photos. I know what you mean about most of it being luck though! I feel the same way about my shots. Yep, Xmas is on its way soon! The D200 would make a fantastic gift for yourself though ;-) I have several friends who own that camera, as does my brother. Great machine, but its quite a bit different than the D60. If you can, try get one into your hands to see how it feels, its bigger and heavier, but built to last!
The D80 is closer to the D60 in feel and is roughly the same price range used as the D200, BUT...given the same price, go with the 200. There are so many bodies out there used now, you'll have tons of choices. Kijiji has some good deals, but might be hard to find some where you live! Another couple of places to keep an eye on... www.keh.com or adorama, or BH Photo. or Henrys (to stay on the Canadian side of things) and of course, Ebay.
This website might give you a ton of general information... www.dpreview.com
heres a link with the D200... http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/NikonD200/
