Name Your Dream Assignment is sponsored by Lenovo and Microsoft for anyone to submit an idea for a never-done-before photo shoot.
Besides submitting your own idea, you can vote on your favorite idea (except your own!). A panel of photography experts will select from the top 20 most creative and inspiring suggestions that get the most votes. (Obviously, you could use PictureSocial to ask people to vote for your idea.)
It’s the idea that counts. You don’t need to be a pro photographer, or even to have a portfolio. All you need is a dream.
The winner will get a $50,000 cash award to carry out their dream plus a Lenovo W700 notebook computer, specially designed for photographers.
The contest launches March 3, and in the meantime you can get updates and info from the e-newsletter. Sign up for it here: http://www.nameyourdreamassignment.com
Help me Bring Photography to Children in Need - my dream assignment.
I will set up a nonprofit to bring photography to needy children across the globe in attempt to capture our world through their eyes. As I travel, I will seek to capture the essence of their cultures, people, and landscapes.
My dream assignment is directly inspired by the movie, Born Into Brothels and founder of Kids with Cameras, Zana Briski.
I would like to either set up my own nonprofit like Kids with Cameras, or work in conjunction with Kids with Cameras to travel the globe and work with children in need, giving them cameras and showing them the importance of their perspective on life. I would myself be photographing select children from around the globe that participate in the program, their families, cultures, communities. I will seek to capture the essence of their cultures, people, and landscapes.
