Hello to everyone. just wanted to get some feed back from everyone. I am looking to upgrade from my Nikon D60 to more of a Pro. or Semi-pro camera. the ones i am looking at right now are Nikon D300S or D700 and the Sigma SD14
Thank you in advance for your feed back. Leonidas Bratini myfotolife.com
Why do you want to upgrade? To take "better" photographs? Probably will not happen. Going from 10 to 12 MP certainly is not going to improve your images. Getting more focal points may help, but is it worth the cost? I would first think about upgrading your lenses, getting a "pro" style tripod and maybe attend a workshop. This will improve your photos far more than a new camera body.
hey Greg, thanks i understand that the pixel update is nothing. and i do have a tripod, sigma lens . 10-20mm and 70-300mm
..and i think my images are good thus far.
---Lawrence, yea i would like a full frame sensor
i would really love to the get the D3X, but man is that expensive
I would go along with Greg, upgrade the lenses first, get a good tripod and go on courses. Upgrading the camera does not improve photography, glass and knowledge does.
I would agree and disagree with this. Yes new glass will help, and a lot more than a camera but if he is going from a crop sensor to a FF the IQ of the picture will increase, especially with the D700.
Leo, if I may call you that, I would go with the D700 if you want a FF camera, they are amazing in all types of lighting, especially at night. But if you have the money, I would go with a Nikon D700 and a Sigma 50mm 1.4, the combo is just awesome. Look on Flickr for some samples. Just type in Nikon D700 with Sigma 50mm.
This is the combo I am going with next by the way.
Why purchase a Sigma 50 f/1.4? Nikon produce one of the cheapest lens available and that is the 50mm f/1,8, which is great. Yes they do produce a f/1.4, I have had one and sold it, the f/1.8 does everything I need.
Before you buy a camera invest if glass, that is the real cost in photography. DSLR will always be upgraded to the latest technology, lenses stay constant and it is the glass that makes the difference on any camera.
thank you everyone for the feed back.
but yea the FF would def. help me out a lot, the low light sensitivity of the D300s and the D700 would help me out alot
my ISO currently only goes up to 3200, and they come out with a lot of noise when printed in any large size.
The only thing that you would have to worry bout with the D700 or D300 is the resolution, so you may not be able to make as big of prints as lets say the 5D Mk II. But prints up to 11 x 14 will be no problem, and bigger.
