Soo... I'm pretty much a beginner and I've just bought a Canon EOS 450D which comes with a standard 18-55mm lens, but what lens would you suggest I buy next; that will be the most useful to me? I like taking documentary photographs, detailed and up-close...

Hi Katie, I have a Canon 450D that I have had for about 2 years. It came with the 18-55mm IS lens, which is much better than the 18-55mm non-stabilized lens. I also have the Canon ef 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens. For macro work I have a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro lens. I get a lot of use out of my Canon 50mm f/1.5, I find it makes a good portrait lens. I buy all of my lenses used from KEH Camera, they have the best prices on used lenses, also the best selection.
Thankyou very much.
I have to say it since you already have some advice--- You could just buy me a lens and I'd greatly appreciate it! hehe
