As Picturecorrect previously reported Nikon has announced their new flagship camera; The D4. Rumors swirled for months as to how Nikon would respond to Canon's new EOS 1DX. With Nikon's official announcement full details and specs have been released. Read more here.
What do you guys think of the new camera?

The Nikon D4 is aimed at full-time professional news, sports and action photographers – or videographers shooting Canon DSLRs.
For landscape, nature and portrait and wedding photographers, theNikon D3x still has more resolution. For use in the field, the Nikon D7000 has the same resolution as the D4 with a lot less weight.
One CF slot (UDMA 7), and one XQD slot. (NOT two CF slots).
XQD cards — Lexar doesn't make them, and I don't know about SanDisk. Therefore, the XQD slot is largely useless. I'll only use Lexar and SanDisk cards. Got a XQD reader? I didn't think so, I think some investigation is required.
Over all an improvement and the big question is, is it worth the money?

Not sure whether its worth upgrading from a D3s as there's only a 15% difference in resolution and nowhere yet have Nikon announced an improvement in low light performance over the the D3s
The silent shutter mode looks interesting, but i think i'll wait until the D4x is unveiled or any bugs are ironed out of this one first before deciding.
Permalink Reply by Anatoliy on January 10, 2012 at 2:03pm Actually there is an improvement in low light on the D4 by one stop. At 12k iso on the D4 will be just as good as 6400 iso on the D3s. Also from what I've heard XQD are suppose to be the new card of the future so not too long form how they will replace CF.
All in all it's a great camera planing on getting one or two.
Anatolly, I'm curious,
from which site are you getting this noise evaluation between the the D3s and the D4?
Permalink Reply by Anatoliy on January 10, 2012 at 8:21pm Some video on a review of the camera on youtube by people that actually got to use one. Tried to find it but could not so why dont you do some research on why this camera is better then the D3s.
I did yesterday over on Dpreview.com where everybody is on the case re the release of the D4 - usually if there was a stop difference, the forum there would be buzzng with excitement.
Consensus so far is they are the same which is still good being the D4 has higher resolution.

There are quite a few tests going in the D3 / D3s forum on the site..
The current D3s is out ahead by a mile when it comes to low light photography, if there was was a stop difference in noise, i may be wrong, but i think it would have been marketed differently
Permalink Reply by CameraClicker on January 11, 2012 at 3:32am That claim is made in a video at Fro Knows Photos: http://froknowsphoto.com/nikon-d4-preview/
I believe he says Nikon told him the D4 is a stop better.
Thanks CC,
i just looked at the video,so far i haven't seen it referenced on Dpreview, might post it there to gauge opinion - i think we'll all know sooner or later when the real world lab tests are all done.. Lots of 36MP rumors about the D800 floating around, can't wait to find out the real specs on that one is when its released..
