I still have my old good friends, a 35mm Pentax and lenses. I understand you can use old lenses on Pentax DSLRs. Anyone done that? What are the issues?

I have a Sony A300 DSLR and I'm using my old Minolta lenses which is the reason I purchased a Sony as I did not have the money to start rebuilding my system from scratch again when I switched from film to digital and have not had any issues with using my Minolta lenses on my DSLR.
Hi, I have just switched over from my old Pentax Spotmatic to the DSLR Olympus E520, and am able to use my old lenses with an adapter plate/ring. As Im still trying to get used to Digital, I havent used the old lenses, only noticed that some of the camera's functions become immobilised (A lot it seems). Sort of "back to the furture"?
I went with Pentax because I had lenses from my Pentax and Risoh slrs. Both work fine on the DSLR but they lack auto focus but the camera focus indicator still tells you when your focused. Shake reduction in the Pentax also works with all lenses.

Have fun

Hi Colin
My first camera back into photography was a Pentax K10D which I have now given to my son, [wish I hadn't]. Are your lenses K fit, if so, you should have no problems whatsoever. There can be problems with Autofocus, not that I had it with the few lanses I had.
If they are older fit lenses you can get adaptors to fit but will be manual focus. Shake reduction in the Pentax cameras works well and as it is in camera so much the better and cheaper lenses.
I run a canon 5d and have a massive selection of old M42 fit lens. Fantasic

Thank you all for your replies. I think I'll start looking for a second hand Pentax DSLR. It looks as though my old lenses will make me expose manually but that's not a bad thing. Thanks again.

Colin
Thanks for that, Michael. My old Pentax is a KM and since I last posted, I took my lenses to someone who has a K10. And they work! I'm now on the look-out for a second-hand Pentax DSLR.
