The last couple days, when I've uploaded photos....from the thumbnail and looking at the photo on my page, it looks different from what I have in Lightroom or even on my PC. It looks flat and blah...I thought perhaps it was a problem with the setting for output in Lightroom and I made a change from the ProPhoto setting to the sRGB setting and upload a new photo from today. Again from the thumbnail and from the photo on my page, flat and blah. If, I double click on the photo to view in large size ... some of the colors and detail are now visible . http://www.picturesocial.com/photo/sunburst-spencer-gorge?context=l...
I also uploaded the same photo to my flickr account and smugmug account...on these sites the photo looks much the same as what I see in Lightroom...am I doing something incorrectly and do other people see the same flat photo here on picture social????
This seems to be a common issue for me for the last three photo uploads for sure....looks one way (flat and blah) on the thumbnail and on my page ... until I click on the photo to view in large size then, it seems to come to life a bit.
BTW....I am working in Lightroom2 for the majority of my processing....raw processing, sharpening etc...I am extremely new to Lightroom and am learning as I go...in case that makes a difference to anyones answer to my question
I know I said that the problem is solved ....I am not sure it really is. While the upload to Picture Social seems better than it was...I think there is still some color shift in the upload to this site. If I compare the upload and the colors/luminosity to the thumbnail and the photo when viewed large, the large view is a better representation. If I compare the upload to Picture Social and my other photo sits (flickr and smugmug)...I think I still see a difference there as well...the richness or color and luminosity seem different to me. So, I am not sure what I am still doing incorrectly....keep in mind, this only happens if I edit in CS5 and then upload to Picture Social. If I upload somehting that was processed strictly in Lightroom ....all is fine.
Here a the various sites for comparison
Ok Sherry i solved your problem,
i downloaded your image from Picture Social into my CS5 and it is showing with an Adobe 98 RGB colour space.
The last thing you should be doing in your editing is converting a copy of the image to sRGB for the web.
Adobe 98 is great for printing, but the colours become washed out on the web because most browsers cannot read the colour space.
Try uploading another copy and you will see the colours will all match :-))
