question: printing with ink jet printer

thank you for stopping by this thread.

I have a question on printing with ink jet printer. I'm using Canon Pxima Pro 9500 ( named as Canon Pixus Pro 9500 in Japan). Usually, I get images printed by Pro LAB, so far.

My question is;

1. when I print the images, the part of shadow is too dark always.

2. print is too much red.

Here is my setting;

OS: Windows Vista 64bit

Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 245B+

PS ver: Photoshop CS4 & Lightroom 3

Monitor Calibrated with i1

Paper; Canon SG

When I process, I turned off color setting in Printer. Then, set using printer profile like canon SG1

Do I have to adjust couple of settings in printer software? I mean using advance color settings in printer properties?

I print with an Epson. I used a Colormunki to profile my monitor and printer. I disable the printers control and use Photoshop CS5 to control printing using the custom profile from the Colormunki, for the paper I have.

Based on the screen looking good, what prints is still darker than desired in the light the prints are usually viewed in. I created an action that lightens the image before it is sent to print, then does a final sharpening and sends it to print. This has worked pretty well for me.

The Epson ink for the R1900 printer looks different under incandescent light than it does in sunshine, blue looks darker and more purple than it should. In daylight the colours are quite accurate.

I don't know what an i1 is, so don't know if it can profile a printer. For some profiling systems you use the same hardware and others have different pieces for the different jobs. A custom profile may solve your problems.

My thoughts for you are: Check the print outdoors in daylight to make sure your viewing conditions are not causing the problem; and, you can probably set up an action to run after you have saved the file that lightens shadow and reduces red then prints using your desired configuration.
