I did not have CS4.  I upgraded from Elements to CS5 to get a better version of Camera Raw and to solve a printing problem unique to the way I lay out photos on a page with text that was a pain to do in Elements or Lightroom.  When I am in a hurry, I sometimes still go back to Elements to get some things done.

I can't see any disadvantage's using Lightroom / CS5 it's the industry standard for 16bit color managed work-flow and if you have the funds, go for it :-)

I upgraded from CS3 to Photoshop CS5 because of all the new innovations. It is truly worth the upgrade. I have used Content Aware a lot, as well as the wonderful HDR Pro feature. I also upgraded to Lightroom 2. The programs work amazingly well together.

Best regards,

Dan
