I have tried my new Nikon D40 at the beach and the mountains and I am not fully satisfied with it. The problem is that they gave me 10 days to return the camera and today is the last day. I am doing wedding photography at a wedding on Saturday at a huge blues festival. I am sure it will do great on the wedding as they are mostly close ups. I also want to take photos of the acts from far away. The camera came with a 18-55 lens and a 55-200 lens. At the mountains this weekend I tried a number of different f stops and apperatures and the back ground is always out of focus. Is there a remedy for this? Also I just don't know if the 200 is long enough for what I want to do. The Canon Powershot SX10Is is not an SLR but it has a20x optical zoom and a wide angle lens

have you tried putting the camera on AF mode (auto focus)?
The Canon Powershot SX10Is is a cool camera, but you also have to remember that we wedding reception usually has dim lighting and when you zoom in with the SX10 using the 20x zoom your going to experience alot of noise.

as for the D40, I suggest you look more into how to either manually control it or switch it to AF mode. remember that an off camera flash is highly recommended when doing photography for a wedding with dim lighting.

Have you ever used a DSLR?
do you have experience with a DSLR?

Just common questions I ask others when they wanna hit the big world of photography :)
