Using a Sony Alpha slr

I have a friend who has one. I shot with it a couple times - seems like a great camera. Don't switch just because Canons and Nikons are more common. The Sony Alpha has received really good reviews as well (as far as I know).

It is a great one to me! I know people who bash on them because they aren't as "expensive" as Nikons and Canons. But thanks!

Most all my cameras are Sony and I love them all. They each have their purpose and the new A900 is their best effort yet. I have been using Sony's for years. I do own a Canon and a Konica Minolta but they don't get anywhere near the use that the Sony's get. Take your shots and enjoy what you've created.

...of the brand name worship/fanboy silliness? ;) As long as you enjoy using it who cares what other photogs are using? As long as the tools are effective brand name has nothing to do with good photography. I've never used a Sony camera myself, but I've used/owned Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, Hasselblad, Leica, Zeiss, Agfa, Ansco, Graflex, Norita, Mamiya, Rollei, Minolta, Exacta, Kodak, Polaroid, Argus, and so on.... The reviews I've seen of the Sony DSLRs, and the increasing popularity of their cameras suggest that they are decent gear. Don't worry about the label; someday when Sony cameras are more popular than Nikon or Canon you'll be able to brag that you were an early adopter.

I don't use this site often, but saw this and felt I HAD to reply.

Sony with it's Minolta legacy heritage makes some great stuff! You need to go get on Dyxum.com which is THEE site for all things Minolta Maxxum/Sony Alpha mount! From cameras to lenses, to everything you can honestly imagine, and you will meet a million Sony Alpha users and owners there.

PLease feel free to join the Sony groups. There aren't many of us but we are dedicated Sony fans. I love Sony products and I am very pleased with my A200 ...I can't wait to upgrade to another Sony in the future.

Thanks Kari! I am pleased with mine too. I was beginning to think that I'm the only one! eheh. Well I guess I feel this way because I went to a photo equip. store and they didn't have anything of Minolta & Sony brand stuff. I was disappointed. But thanks again!

Important is the skill then only the tools. i've seen many great photo taken by sony.
