WEDDING EQUIPMENT ?

Hi there...maybe some of you can share your thoughts about equipment u used during wedding...many people at wedding photography group have many questions about it... :)

When I had my business I used A couple of Canon 30d's and a 5D with a few "Canon L" type lenses. For lighting I used several Canon 580ex's triggered with pocket wizards. Then there was all the accessories like light stands, umbrellas, reflectors, and diffusers.

I have since sold my business and reverted back to film where I just shoot for myself these days.............unless of course someone would like to commission me for a project, that would be pretty sweet.

I use 2- 40D's, 10-22 USM, 24-70 2.8L and 70-200 2.8L- After many years of wedding photography I realized that these were my go to focal lengths- now the equipment has changed (film to digital, full frame to crop) but these focal lengths are what I use most- so I have streamlined my tools to include just these lenses. I do have a 50 1.4 and 85 1.2 but I never use them. For bags, I carry all my camera equipment in a rolling case and since I use off camera lighting I carry all my lighting related gear in a Light Caddy www.thelightcaddy.com

Most of the time I'm using a Canon 5D with a fast, normal zoom, and an upper end Canon flash with DIY bounce card on a bracket. I like to use a battery pack for the flash to speed up recycle time. I also carry a variety of wide and long, fast zooms and primes (Canon, Sigma, & Tamron), and extra flashes, both dedicated and old school manual, and all the fixings to operate them on camera or off. I like the DIY bounce card (something white rubber banded to flash), but also carry 5x8, 10x10, and 16x24 softboxes. Light stands, tripod, pol filters, etc... I have at least two of everything except the tripod ( I could sub a light stand in a pinch). Lot's of batteries and memory.

Back up cameras and lenses are obvious, but don't forget to back-up the other stuff too. I've broken or had fail many more accessories than bodies and lenses: flashes, flash cords, remotes, umbrella holders, etc... Make sure you have extras of anything you rely on.
