The Photography Network - PictureSocial

Hi everyone

I am new to Picture Social and have several images I would like comment on. Don't be afraid to tell me the what you really think I'm thick skinned. I just want to improve my photography skills. Here is one image that I really like. It is a photo of a path by my home that I took in the early morning. Can you find any way I can improve the quality or the composition.

I think I would like it better if you were in the middle of the path and fairly low, when you took it.

Thanks for the advice CameraClicker I'm always looking to improve.

Hi, you've got the right idea by taking the eye into the photo and down the path.  If it were my photo I would have cropped the clutter of extra trees and the fallen tree off the left hand side to simplify the composition.  Then perhaps I would play with the contrast and colouring a bit.

This is the kind of photos I like to take too. I think I see what you were trying to achieve here. The path and the trees all point to the center. I would have tried to take it with a little more upward angle. I'd also try it again when the pavement isn't wet. I still enjoyed seeing it. Thank you for sharing.

I'm not particularly moved by the photograph.  I do believe that the elements are there but it's one of those instances where you need to get off the beaten path and look for material that is really compelling.  Make me really want to look at the photograph.

I like the leading lines in the photo.  Perhaps a lower POV might improve the impact of the photo.  Post processing to either bring out or bring down the contrast might enhance the mood of the photograph (depending on what mood you want to bring across).

Nathan and Terry on target.  This is just a bit too bland.  Put a bear at the end of the path and add a bit of punch to the picture and it would be interesting.  Even a couple of people walking might help.

I think it is a great photo and I personally love the subject matter.  It doesn't need a bear, or a person, or whatever else because that would take the serenity away.  I agree that maybe it could be a little lower, but it still looks good.  If it were me, I would pop the color and contrast just a hair. I would be going back to this location throughout the seasons and do a whole series on it - Also in the right light this could be an amazing large format black & white.
