What equipment do you use?

Recently on facebook I was asked: "What camera system do you use and what is your favorite lens? When you're in the field shooting do you download to a computer or just carry a lot of cards?"

My reply:

My all around camera/lens is the Canon 7D with the 24-105 f4 L IS. For wide angle, I use the 5D Mark II body with the 16-35 f2.8 L II lens. (I have been told the 17-45 is sharper -- and costs $1,000 USD less.) My "telephoto" lens is the 70-200 f2.8 L IS which I mount on the 7D to take advantage of its 1.6x magnification. (If I was equipping myself today, I would get the new version of this classic 70-200 lens.) The only lens I really "hunger" for is the recently released 105 Macro.
I always travel with my laptop and at least two western digital "Passport" USB drives -- 500 gig capacity -- one for working and one for backup. Even on short trips, I shoot more than my 32 gig cards (1 in each camera body) can hold. Anyway, it is always a goal of mine to post at least some images daily so I would be carrying the laptop for that anyway.
