Foggy Forest: I like this shot. You captured a nice, relaxing mood. Next time you might try to get the entirety of the sun behind a tree. Should increase the halo/sunbeam effect and hold down any washed out areas.
Lightning Bolt. Great shot. I never have such luck to catch such a bolt without using a timed exposure. Only thing I suggest is increasing the contrast and decreasing the exposure some to really accent the bolt. Such as:
Hummingbird. Shot is way to flat/muddy looking. Looks like you cropped way in on a much larger shot to isolate the bird. This really washed out all detail and made it an unpleasing shot. You really need to take such shots with a faster shutter speed thean 1/200 and using a smaller aperature will help with the focus. That being said, it looks like you did just about what you could without using a flash. Looks like it was a very overcast day.
Nice shots of the forest and lightning. Mike hit the points on all three shots. In the foggy forest you may have been able to move to get just an edge of the sun and created a flare in the picture and hiding more of the sun would have helped the exposure on the rest of the shot. When I see it full size the dark areas are a bit noisy. Tough exposure problem with direct sun and dark forest areas, but good work.
