Importing to LR3 from iPhoto

I am still not clear about the best way to import my photos from iPhoto to LR3.  I can't seem to find this simple answer in searches online

Forget about iPhoto, you just import photos into LR from wherever you store them, say users\pictures\

"I'm not sure if I can help, but I used the 'image' button.  It is the second from the left in the Rely Toolbar.  There you have an option of taking the photo off your computer or from a URL. Good Luck Bill"
