Hi everyone. I am wondering if anyone in this group has used LR Enfuse for HDR and what you think of the program. It is a donationware plug in for lightroom. I have downladed it, but have yet to try it. From my understanding, it is supposed to give natural looking results. Thanks, Gregory
The "installation" was simple, just copy its folder to LR's directory, but I couldn't get through the next step: Once you fire up Enfuse, it gives a warning that "The Trial version can only create an image of up to 500 px along the width or height. Please donate to remove restriction". Click OK to go ahead, then you have to download/install an application, either for single or multi processors. This is where it's stuck, click "Install Apps" button will download 2.8MB then error msg appears "Could not create staging folder". That's it! Not exactly user friendly. I better stay with Photoshop or Photomatix for now, until I have some more time to fiddle with it :)
I was able to get it installed and working in lightroom the other day. It installed correctly and I ran produced one photo so far and worked great I I gave a small donation). I followd the instructions from "Yaniks Photo School" turtorial. Chech him out on the web and look under "lightroom turorials". My initial results looked promising. I am going to give it a much more complete test in a few days. Following his instructions worked perfectly (although the prompting has changed somewhat since his video, it is still easy to figure out.
I have LR Enfuse, Photomatix and recently Nik Software HDR Efex Pro which came with the bundle of Lightroom Plugins. I used Photomatix for a long time although I'm not a big HDR person I do like it for some photographs where I want to match a vision I had at the time. With LR Enfuse I found the results a bit hit and miss where I had more consistency with Photomatix. Having just got a copy of HDR Efex Pro I have not tried it other than a quick play with an old set of shots but I think with some practice it could be the better choice in the end. I noticed that Photomatix have also recently upgraded their product to create more natural results easier so the competition is starting to heat up.
