I'm a Canon user and I use the Canon Rebel XS. I want to upgrade to a better Canon camera. I'm thinking I want to buy the Canon 60D. My income is limited so I can't go with any of these high dollar units. Which model would you suggest I invest in and why?
Hello and welcome to the group.
I am a a canon user too although i am also yet to purchase a high end dslr, however i am currently using a 550d or rebel T2i as it's also known. If your planning on a general upgrade the 550d or the 600d could be a good choice. They both have pros and cons such as they both boast a high 18 mega pixels, are lightweight, high iso expansion, digic 4 processor, good lcds with the 600d vary-angle and 550d 3:2 aspect ratio, hd movie recording in full 1080p at 24,25 and 30fps excellent quality, and 4 metering modes.
Cons would be things such as they are not weather sealed, has relatively low fps at 3.7 (34 jpegs-6 Raw) which in fairness if wildlife or sport isn't a main concern would be adequate, the viewfinder isn't 100% which sometimes can be frustrating. Both are fairly priced and although still classed as entry level dslrs they produce great results.
Personally I feel the 550d will last me a long time and I can focus on developing my skills and aquire lenses, The next camera i want will be between the 7d or the 5D MKII which will take quite some time to save for but by then i'll have a much greater knowledge to work with.
Hi Liam, I have seen alot of your photography on this site and it is good stuff from what I remember. On the camera issue, I've thought about the T3i which is the what,600D? (I think). Anyway, the T3i does have alot of the same features that the 60D has and my daughter has thought about it as well. Her reasoning is for the price alone. Here the price difference is $300-$400 depending on where you buy the camera of course. Depending on our financial situation, I may end up keeping the Rebel XS until I wear it out......Talk to you soon.
