Sarah, I am so sorry sweetheart to hear about your cat.  We do get attached to our pets and when something happens to one of them, we cry like a baby.  I know I have in the past.

Hi Sarah, my deepest condolences for your loss. Animals have been proven to be the most loyal friends anyone could ever have, even more so than human beings. I lost my best friend (also a cat) last year. His name was Jean Pierre. He was an Angora. The worst part is that I was so occupied in photographing everything and everyone else that I never got a single snapshot of him. But he will always be in my heart and thoughts as I'm sure Alfie will always be in yours. Just never forget that you have lots of other friends, animals and humans alike. I just hope that I am among them.

I had two cats since their day of conception and they lived to be 19 years old when they passed away, which was two very sad days for me. They followed me about the yard and house and slept at my side or on my legs. Albeit their fur would be shed in the spring leaving layers of wooly matts everywhere they stopped to rest, as it became a labor of love to brush and comb their fur while they purred with a smile like gesture on their faces. Yes animals, even cats, can be friend and a family member, that wiggles their way into your heart. Best friends? Always!
