hey! recently joined this group just because I happen to have a few bird pictures under my belt. But i figured id get more involved!
From me, the amateur, I ask all of you, what are some bird 'catching' tips you guys have? I have a telephoto lense 200mm but its still tricky to locate the birds to begin with.
I figured we could all learn from a discussion like this, so please:
LIKE MOST, i PHOTOGRAPH WITHIN A FEW MILES OF MY HOME. hOWEVER, THE RARE CHANCES WE CAPTURE ARE SPUR OF THE MOMENT. mY ADVICE IS TO ALWAYS CARRY A CAMERA. ALWAYS!
I agree with Elmer -- never leave home without it -- you just never know when you will see something worth shooting and you will be prepared. One of my suggestions is to go to the park where there are more trees and woods than children and just sit and wait, sometimes you luck out and sometimes you go away empty handed -- its a lot of patience and luck, or at least that's what I have found. If you live someplace where you can put out feeders, check with you local "bird" store (we have Birds Unlimited here) and see what kinds of seeds and food to put out to attract different birds. Also, there are lots of plants that will attract hummingbirds and lots of others. Hope this helps. lls
