WELCOME TO BIRDS AROUND THE WORLD
This is a place for people to post, share, and discuss pictures of birds, whether you have ID questions, you saw something rare, or just like how your bird photo turned out. The birds can be wild or captive (not in cages but free flying aviaries).
When you post your shot please state where in the world it was taken and what it is. If you would like help identifying your bird, please number the image and then ask for help in identification. That way if anyone wants to help they can use your name and the number of your image as reference.
If you would like a critic on your work or would like to know how you could improve your shot then please also ask. You could start your own discussion.
All shots should be posted on the Comment Wall giving other Group Members the chance to comment or ask questions about the photo. As Group Admin I will extract photos from the comment wall and place them in the discussion forum under Group Photos. That way if you want to view photos without comments and discussion you can. If you want to start another discussion please feel free but leave the Group Photos forum for Admin use only.
It would be great to build this group with birds from across the globe.
CHECK OUT OUR GROUP PHOTOS SECTION (under Discussion Forum).
For fun from time to time you will be invited to show the best of a particular group of bird.
Looking forward to your photos and comments/discussions. Enjoy.

Comment by Desi on January 21, 2012 at 3:14am Nice shot Issi. Brilliant colouring. You forgot to mention, for the benefit of the non South Africans that it is a Southern Ground Hornbill. Was this in Kruger National Park?

Comment by Desi on January 17, 2012 at 12:54pm Here is a Lesser Double Collared Sunbird just starting to develop his breeding plumage. Once completely developed, according to "Roberts", he will have a full but narrow royal blue collar as well as a full red collar, and his entire head, throat and wings should become that bright green we are just starting to see hints of now.
Comment by Matt Shetzer on January 14, 2012 at 9:45am Here are a couple of images from our Bald Eagle tour in Haines Alaska. We had lots of snow this year (128" in the month) unlike last year.

An eagle with Leucism. (notice the white wing tips and white talons)

One thing that always amazes us when we visit the Alaskan town of Haines, is the range of eagles that we see. From the left to the right, we see first an eagle that has fledged this year, second an eagle that has fledged within the past several years, third is an almost mature Bald Eagle and last is a mature Bald Eagle. Notice the coloring that distinguishes this magnificent bird during its life cycle.
