I have a 5D II and wanted to get peoples opinion. If you had to choose 3 lens to use, what would they be?

I am looking to sell my 5D too. what do you think we can get?
I like the 17-35mm f2.8 L series for wide angle and I'm looking at getting either the 85mm f1.8 or 100mm f2 for portrait and product shots. I'd probably also get a 50mm of some type (possibly macro), though I don't really need one right now.
You don't need three! Either the 16-35 or 17-40 and one of the 70-200s will do you nicely (you won't even notice the gap from 40mm - 70mm). If you just have to have a third lens, consider the new marco coming out later this month, the 100mm f2.8L macro. It has many advanced features that make it good for non-macro use as well. Regarding a second 5D Mark II, get the new 7D instead to have all the basis covered including a giant step over the biggest weakness of the 5D -- its lame autofocus.
The 70-200 2.8L IS has got to top the list. It gives such a wide range of uses. 50mm 1.2L, and the 85mm 1.2L II (or 100mm f2.8L Macro). This kit would give me almost anything I would need for my MkII
24-70 is literally perfect. just wide enough, just enough zoom. a perfect FF lens.

I use the 24-105 L and a bunch of Olympus OM1 and 2 Zuiko Primes. The Olympus lens are tiny manual compared with the Canon lens. All give good results.

EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is tops.  Just enough distance not to rattle kids, animals, it's fast, sharp and great in low light.  Heavy but worth the ache.  I use the 50mm 1.4 for portraits and video and the 24-105 walk around.  Find a place to rent a lens before buying it.
