Does anyone know the difference between digital macro and regular macro?

From what I'VE seen, with digital maco you can zoom in and get much more detail as opposed to a regular macro zoomed picture. The tradeoff with digital macro is the rendering of a little more noise though. Try zooming in to your fingerprints, for example, with digital macro and then again with regular macro, zooming in and out with each. The detail with digital macro is sharper. I have no idea if that made any sense, it did in my head though. lol. Just play with object about an inch away and you'll see.
