Hello all Good Morning can anyone can help me out, I have Canon 40D with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, I am planning to buy a Canon Zoom Telephoto EF 70-200mm f/2.8L , is it good or is there is a better one than this(I can spent only $1300 not more than this), this is the last lens I am going to buy now, thanks in advance.
No way is it better, in any meaningful sense, but it does offer a very useful zoom range. It is something of a dedicated wildlife lens though. If you _need_ the 200-400 range then the 100-400 is a better option than cropping a 70-200 image or bolting a teleconverter to the 70-200; but within the 70-200mm range a 70-200 f/2.8L is going to run rings around the 100-400. It is sharper and has a constant f/2.8 aperture, in fact the various 70-200s are perhaps the best zoom lenses that Canon has to offer.
I am a wedding photographer and use the 70-200 2.8 IS... I love the image stabilization on this lens and think that it is well worth the extra $. You can find a good used one for the price you are looking for.
No comment on the price, but be sure to check www.resellerratings.com to verify that you are dealing with a non-scammy vendor. If a price seems to good to be true there is usually a reason for it.
I bought one of these lenses in February, and I haven't looked back. I love it and the results are so far beyond my old sigma 55-200, that I couldn't help but recommend it to everyone.

Hi, the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L (with IS?) is a great and expensive all around telephoto lens. I was planning to puchase one myself but opted to instead purchase the EF 70-200L IS f/4.0 and the only reason for that, as I was told, was if the lens will be used mostly outdoors, then the f/4.0 will suffice. You do not really need an f/2.8 if most of the shots will be taken outdoors. You save on cost but still get more or less the same shot quality.
