I just got the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM and I knew my Canon 1.4 Extender would not work with it. But then I thought, there is a need here and maybe some other company like Sigma has made one that will work with this lens. Does anyone know of one or done research to find one?

Thanks,

John

Look for Tamron - I have one (don't remember at a moment the specification).
They make extenders that don't need tapping pins and AF is still working with every body,
not only with 1D-1Ds series...

Sylwester,

Do you use yours with the lens I am using, Canon 70-300 EF? This is not the L series lens.
I tried it with my old 75-300 IS and it was ok (I'd sold this lens and got 100-400 IS L and 70-200 F4 IS L). Of course, you can expect some lower quality, that's a consequence of extra glass but acceptable.

I know that Daniella was using it with her EF 400/5.6 L for BIF (birds in flight) and was glad with it.

I own a kenko 2x extender which fit all canon EF lens ( do not fit Canon EFS len). Of course quality wise will not be as good as canon one.
