Hi,
I recently bought a lens adapter tube and some filters for my Powershot S1. The problem I've noticed is that the camera has a hard time focusing when the filters are on. Even if I manually adjust the focus, it just doesn't work right. The polarizing filter seems to give it the most problems. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I was gonna ask in the Canon Powershot group, but there is no activity over there.

Thanks,
Eric

I believe it is because when you apply a filter, specifically the polarizer, you lose 1.5 stops of light. The same effect happens to me in low light situations on my camera. Try bumping up your ISO to see if this alleviates the problem.
Thanks, it's certainly worth a try.
Is your polarizing filter a circular polarizer (CPL). if not, that could be the major culprit.
