I was not knocking Tamron.  They have good lenses.  I have rented them with good results.  The Nikon version is the professional standard and I cant afford the $2.5.  but i rent it often.

Thank you Ken,

I will try that. I could not afford the 2.5k for the nikon version of the lens. I thought tamron was good equiptment.

Donald, Have a D5K never experience this problem. Only use Nikkor lenses though. Try cleaning the contact on the lens and camera.

Hello Everyone,

I have recently purchased a tamron 70-200 f2.8 lens for my D5000. I love the quality of the images, however when I am in the woods every now and then the display on my camera will not read the apeture. The display only shows f--. Has anyone experienced this?

Oops sorry I think I just sent you all a private message that I intended to be my comment. LOL. Sorry!

My questions is regarding the Nikon D5000 and lens filters. I am thinking about purchasing a polarizer filter. Wondering before i purchase if you guys know of any good quality filters, how helpful they actually are, and where to buy from?! Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you are getting too much light from your SB900 speedlight and strobes causing overexposure of your pictures. It's difficult to give you a specific setting because all settings are dependent upon the subject you are shooting, the available ambient light of the scene and the distance/angle set up of your strobes..

Generally when shooting with strobes one would use a light meter to determine camera and flash settings for proper exposure.

You can start by adjusting the flash strength of the SB900 and your strobes while keeping your camera settings constant. This is definitely a hit or miss approach.  What I suggest is check out the manuals for the SB900 and strobes to determine how to make adjustments and strongly suggest checking out online flash tutorials:  www.strobist.com and www.neilvn.com/tangents.
