The images in this gallery are part of a book project on which I am working. Hope to be finished before the end of the year.

You can find the gallery here: http://www.pbase.com/mnoble/cowtown_rodeo

I used two D700s along with the 70-200 f2.8, the 24-70 f2.8, and the 28-300 f3.5-5.6 Nikkor lenses. Except for the beginning of the event it is stadium lighting. So I start at ISO 400 and end up at ISO 1600.

Hope you enjoy the images.

Great shot Louann, and yes the 50mm f/1.4 is a great piece of glass especially on a D700.

Couldnt agree with you more.  The D700 and 50mm 1.4 is a killer combo.  Always in awe at the results I achieve. - here is one of my recent ones with this lens. No adjustments have been made to this pic, except for 1cm crop off right.

I recently purchased my second D700. To say that I love this camera is an understatement. I had purchased a D300S as a back up but I really was unsatisfied with it when compared to the full frame sensor of the D700. Luckily I found a buyer for the D300S and I got a good price for it. So, a quick visit to B&H filled the need.

Here is a photo I took this passed weekend with the D700 and the wonderful Nikkor 50mm f1.4 lens. A fantastic combination.

I was considering a sensor loupe.  It is very difficult to see debris on the sensor, at least I would have a better chance of knowing it was clean.  Thanks.

A Dotline sensor loupe may come in handy with their cleaning kit is about $60.00

It is not recommended to use a methanol based solutions or canned air.  Maybe time to send it to Nikon Service Center. I have used the Photographic Solutions Sensor Swab™ on my D300 have not had to clean D700 yet.

Photographic Solutions has been providing photographic cleaning solutions for quite some time and were the forerunner in developing cleaning products for digital cameras.
Advantages    Disadvantages
• Fits most sensor sizes    • Expensive compared to alternatives
• Streak free    • Manufacturer recommends that swabs be used with Eclipse® or E2™ (methanol based solutions)
• Works with other manufacturers cleaning solutions
• Popular within the professional digital photography community

Tried it all.  Own the Giottis Rocket Blower, swabs, wipes, and fluid.  I just shot a bunch of pictures and had a repeat of something that looks like an eyelash show up in every shot where the background is a light color, or at a particular focal length?.  I carefully cleaned and got the thing out of my pictures a month ago.  I even cleaned it in a position where debris would fall out.  It is hard to see things on the sensor, maybe I missed it?

My first thought is _how are you getting that much dirt in it?" Several sensor cleaning kits are available on line the 24mm swaps (for D700) with cleaning solution works very well, also get a Giottos Rocket air blower.(large) Have you tried using the built in camera sensor cleaning ?
John Vogler Comment by John Vogler on March 3, 2011 at 2:32pm
Is it worth it to have my camera cleaned by a professional?  I am having my pictures ruined by dirt on my sensor far too often.  I don't trust my local camera shop, and Nikon dealer is not close.  They say they will clean it, but it doesn't sound like they take the camera apart.  I use air to try to remove dust and dirt but can't seem to get it all out.  Should I be patient, or spend the $75 for someone else to do it?
