Hey,
You can make an ir filter for cheap by buying the ir plastic and fitting it to a uv filter.

I found a great DIY video for building barn doors for work lights. I am using some tripod-mounted dual-head work lights from Lowe's for my lighting. I saved a whole lot of money, seeing as I didn't have that much to spend in the first place.

I had to take the template Cool Lights gives you and adjust it to fit my rectangular work light. But I am eager to see how it works with clamp lights.

You can make a cheap tilt/shift lens using a car steering gaiter / sink plunger... and an old enlarger (or medium format) lens.

Mine cost under £10.

There are also numerous more elaborate designs around that will hold the lens in the desired position, making them ideal for macro & video applications.
