This was one of my first attempts at infrared.  Shot with NON converted T2i with a hoya r72 filter with camera set for mono.  What do you think?

Perhaps not the typical infra red shot, but I was pleased with how this one turned out:)

I thought as a new member i should share one of my IR photos:

Taken with an unmodified Pentax K100d, kit lens, & Chinese 720nm filter.

A modified IR is what I don't recommend if you don't have an old DSLR to spare, but it's great to take IR photos without using a tripod.

You can easily use Gimp. The most common 'to do' thing for colour IR is to switch Channel Red/Blue using the Channel Mixer which is common in most photo manipulation application. Then adjust your picture tone with the Hue and Saturation control. The rest is up to you.

I will look at your pics in a minute. I use an IR filter attached to my camera. I am still learning about photography and all that can be done with it. Some of what you explained is new to me, but I appreciate it the help.

Hello Shanna, you don't have to use photoshop at all to achieve wild infrared shots! Also you don't have to use a modified DSLR with the same purpose..! Suprised? Here we go: Since 2008 I just use a Sony H-50 digi camera [in "nightshot" mode] with a pair of infrared filters screwed on it's hood! Second surprise: I've always used ONLY Picasa in order to obtain my final results: B&W or colored effects as well...Don't believe yet? Take a look at my photos and see how easy is to make awesome infrared shots at low expense and without blowing your mind away... Greatings.

Thank you, I am still having issues trying to figure out how to use photoshop, but at least I am trying. Thanks for the link, it did help but my photoshop looks different then the one on there so it make it a little harder to figure out.
