I prefer this one, it seems a lot warmer and more inviting than the 2nd shot.  Nice work and the hillside stands out nicely.

I would go back when the sun has just set and it is getting dark, with a bit of color still in the sky. You will get much more detail in the scene but will still have the awesome lights of the city in the photo.
