I just have some questions about the Nikkor 50mm: Can you take macro photography with it? Where can I get the lens for a good price? Thanks, your comments appreciated.

There are two 50mm lenses made by Nikon, f/1.8 and f/1.4, both are very good, the f/1.8 is the cheapest.

No it does not do macro but ther are ways to make it work. Macro work is different and if you want to do Macro wok you will meed a dedicated Macro lens.

As you live in America I would suggesat B&H but any Nkon stockist should carry both lenses

Thanks Fred appreciate your answers and I'll be checking out B&H.

Josh,

Here's an interesting article on the 50mm f/1.8 vs. f/1.4

You could use this lens for macro work, but you will need either a reversing ring or extension tubes.

Thank you for your help, the article was very helpful.
